Description Protective films for displays have long been known. Especially with mobile phones and tablet computers, these protective films enjoy great popularity. In order to best serve their purpose and to give a visually appealing image, such films must be tailored exactly according to the display to be protected, and also applied exactly.
However, the application of such films proves to be extremely difficult. Once these foils have been removed from their support and applied to the display, they can no longer be displaced and the position changed. In general, therefore, several Auf-bring attempts are necessary to bring the film in the desired position. Repeated stripping and reapplication of the film, however, impairs the film and its adhesive layer, for example due to creases and fingerprints on the adhesive side, and damages the appearance. Therefore, when purchasing such films, packages of two to three films are usually sold to ensure that at least one of these films can be optimally applied. There are therefore various efforts to facilitate the application of the films.
It has been proposed to first apply a thin film of water to the display to be protected, which allows the applied protective film to be pushed back and forth on the display until the optimum position has been achieved. If this position is reached, the water should be pushed out by displacing over the edges or removed by a drying process. Although this method works well in principle, it has the disadvantage that moisture can penetrate into the device and damage it, and possibly also limescale between display and protective film remain. Furthermore, attempts have been made to alleviate the problem by designing the recesses frequently provided in such protective films, for example for control buttons, camera or microphone, as necessary, so that at least slight positioning errors do not impair the function of the film and of the device.
Recently, a device for applying such protective films is offered on mobile phones. This device has molds for the common mobile phone models and, in the shop where such protective films are offered, allows on-site exact application of the protective film.
The object of the invention is to provide a protective device for displays with a protective film, which can be applied easily and accurately.
This object is solved by the features of claim 1.
The core idea of the invention is to use an application aid which allows a precise positioning of the protective film with the carrier in the desired position, in such a way that this position is maintained even after the carrier has been removed, so that the protective film is then simple but very precise can be applied to the display. At least one adhesive element, preferably two or more adhesive elements, which securely fixes the protective film positioned on the display to be protected with the carrier by connecting the adhesive element to the protective film and to the device having the display, is used as an application aid gives a hinge. This hinge allows the protective film to be unfolded with the carrier, ie to fold away from the display to be protected, then to remove the carrier and to fold down the protective film into exactly the desired position, which is fixed and retained due to the hinged adhesive element.
The invention will be described in more detail with reference to a concrete exemplary embodiment. The decisive factor is that the application aid in the form of at least one adhesive element enables a stable, hinge-like connection of the protective film and the object to be protected. The adhesive element must therefore be sufficiently flexible to be able to assume the hinge function. On the other hand, it should have the lowest possible elongation in order to avoid a change in the position of the protective film when folding and unfolding. Since the adhesive element is adhered to the protective film and the display to be protected, the adhesive should advantageously be easy to remove without residue.
Particularly reliable, the protective film can be positioned if at least two adhesive elements are used, which result in a double hinge, which excludes a misalignment of the protective film when folding and unfolding. But even with only one adhesive element, a good result can be achieved if it has a sufficiently large extension in the hinge axis.
If the protective film has a rectangular shape, the adhesive element is expediently provided on one longitudinal side of the protective film. In order for the application aid to function in the desired manner, it is necessary for the protective film and the carrier to be formed on at least one side exactly corresponding to the side of the device having the display, and not to project beyond it. Although the protective films should of course always be made exactly according to the display that is to be protected, the carrier material often overlaps, so that the protective film is to a certain extent arranged inside the entire sheet and can be pulled off, but the edges are protected by projecting carrier material. and optionally protective film material. With such prefabricated protective films, the said method and the use of the application aid is not possible. Since the devices often have a small edge next to the display glass, even a small edge does not hinder the carrier film. The protective film and the carrier must be made up on at least one side exactly corresponding to the corresponding side of the display to be protected or tailored to make a hinge-like fixation zuk.

Fig. 1 shows the protective film 1 located on the carrier 2 in the attachment of two adhesive elements 3 on the side of the protective film. It is crucial that the side of the protective film 1 or of the carrier 2, to which the adhesive elements 3 are attached by gluing, corresponds exactly to the corresponding side of the display 6 to be protected and there is no protrusion or setback.
As can be seen from Fig. 2, the protective film 1 with carrier 2 and the glued on the protective film 1 adhesive elements 3 is brought by appropriate back and forth on the display 6 indie final and perfect position. Since extremely precise positioning is possible with the novel protective device and the novel method, the dimensions of the protective film 1 for switch, camera, microphone and the like can be cut out exactly in terms of size, so that no larger recesses than necessary are necessary. In the unfolded state, as can readily be seen from Fig. 6, the carrier 2 is carefully removed. After peeling off the carrier 2, the hinging elements 3 acting as hinges become visible. The protective film 1 is then carefully folded back onto the display 6, as shown in FIGS. 7 and 8. The first contact with the display 6 is formed on the other side, which is connected by the adhesive elements 3 with the side wall 5 of the housing. After the protective film 1 is now fixed in its exact optimum position on the display 6, the adhesive elements 3, as shown in Fig. 10, carefully peeled off.
